Bharat Gupta, the CEO of Jagran New Media, was chosen to lead the INMA’s South Asian Division

Bharat Gupta, the CEO of Jagran New Media, has been elected as the regional president of the South Asian Division of the International News Media Association (INMA), succeeding Praveen Someshwar, the Managing Director and CEO of HT Media. This leadership change was confirmed during INMA’s annual business meeting, where new officers and regional directors were appointed to the International Board.

Jagran New Media, the digital extension of Jagran Prakashan, operates across various media platforms, including print, radio, outdoor, and digital. Bharat Gupta’s election marks a significant moment for the division, highlighting his extensive experience and leadership in the media industry.

Upon his appointment, Bharat expressed his vision: “My primary focus will be on driving scale, impact, and sustainability for digital news media companies. Central to this vision is the creation of a collaborative platform where we can ideate, collaborate, and innovate together. I also plan to emphasize culture building within our organizations, with a particular focus on fostering Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity to ensure a transformative impact across the media landscape.”

With a rich background in media, Bharat is poised to guide the South Asian Division towards a progressive and sustainable future. As the new president, he will oversee all activities and champion INMA’s core values of sustainable journalism, success, innovation, and continuous learning. His prior role as vice president of the INMA South Asian Division has well-prepared him for this leadership position.

In addition to his new role, Bharat Gupta holds several other significant positions. He is a governing council member and co-chair at the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), a founding member of the Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA), the executive president of the Misinformation Combat Alliance, a board member of the International Fact Check Network (IFCN), and an advisory board member of FT Strategies in London. Moreover, he is a member of the Google Global News Advisory Group and the YouTube Global News Advisory Group, as well as the founding member and president of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA).

Bharat’s appointment is expected to bring a forward-thinking approach to the South Asian Division of INMA, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and sustainability in the digital news media industry.
