Diplomats from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey who took part in a panel discussion on ‘Trade, Technology, and Tourism’ stated trade and enhancing people-to-people interactions, cultural links, and bilateral relations were priorities for growth in all three areas.

Jennifer Larson, US Consul General in Hyderabad, stated at a presentation held by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) that bilateral trade has expanded tenfold to $146 billion between 2000 and 2019. They predicted an increase in commerce between India and the United States, with a goal of $500 billion by 2023.

The United Kingdom’s Deputy High Commissioner to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Gareth Wynn Owen, said his team wants to collaborate with T-Hub, the world’s largest innovation campus, and other incubators in Telangana. “We plan to double trade with India by 2030 and target £70 billion if the FTA is approved,” he continued.

Yalman Okan, Turkish Consulate General in Hyderabad, discussed the two countries’ cultural commonalities as well as their trading cooperation. “The Scientific and Technology Research Institute of Turkey, a Turkish national agency, is likely to set up an office in T-Hub,” he said.
