BS BFSI Summit LIVE: The second day of the Summit Insight is underway with the chief investment officers (CIOs) of leading mutual fund houses.
The panel, encompassing Lakshmi Iyer (CEO – Investment Advisory, Kotak Investment Advisors), Sankaran Naren (CIO, ICICI Prudential MF), Mahesh Patil (CIO, Aditya Birla Sun Life MF), R Srinivasan (CIO – Equity, SBI MF), and Rajeev Thakkar (CIO, PPFAS MF), is discussing various investment opportunities amid the current market volatility and rising interest rate scenario. Fag-end buying lifted benchmarks off lows, but remained in the negative zone. Fears of a global slowdown amid Covid-19 fears in China and likely recession in the US and Europe weighed on the sentiment on Thursday, while the weekly F&O expiry added to the volatility.
The S&P BSE Sensex was down 150 points, or 0.25 per cent, at 60,900, while the Nifty50 index was testing 18,150, down 50 points. The broader markets, however, remained sanguine with the BSE MidCap index down 0.8 per cent and the BSE SmallCap index down 1.6 per cent.
