The Business Council for the Arts (BCA) Board of Directors has appointed Stacie Wheelock Adams as its new CEO, effective June 1, 2023. Adams takes over for Katherine Wagner, who is leaving after more than 14 years of service.
“We are thrilled to announce Stacie Adams’ selection as the BCA’s new CEO,” stated Nancy A. Nasher, Founder’s Chair. “Stacie is a leader with an excellent reputation in the arts community, deep business relationships, and an enthusiasm and commitment to assisting the BCA in continuing its important mission.”
Adams comes to the BCA following a stellar career in arts administration in Dallas. She was the assistant director of the Crow Museum of Asian Art for a prestigious six-year period. Adams spent almost five years as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s director of public relations and communications before joining the museum. Adams graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and management.
“When I met Stacie more than eight years ago, I knew her deep Dallas community connections were exactly what Axxess needed at the time as we worked to build our philanthropic and community engagement footprint in Dallas,” said Axxess Founder and CEO John Olajide. “I can’t think of a better leader to represent the intersection of the arts and business communities than Stacie.” I am confident she will bring the same level of dedication and rigor to the BCA that she has to Axxess over the last five and a half years.”
The Business Council for the Arts has been actively pushing towns, corporations, and individuals to support the arts in the workplace, education, and the larger community of North Texas for over 35 years.
“I am humbled and honored to have been chosen to lead the BCA,” Adams remarked. “I intend to work with our board and staff to continue to build on the BCA’s business-facing strategy, providing programs that positively impact engagement and retention, health and wellness, equity, inclusion, and diversity, and growing community connections through arts and culture.”
