Amazon CEO’s salary went up but compensation went down, here’s how

[ad_1]

Many tech CEOs’ salaries are enviable, as they are frequently very high. This is especially true if you are in charge of corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and others. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy apparently gets a lot of money as well. However, in 2022, his income was severely reduced. According to Amazon’s annual proxy statement, Jassy received $1.3 million in remuneration in 2022. However, he was granted stock options worth $212 million in 2021. According to the filing, Amazon did not grant Jassy any new stock this year.

A closer examination of the numbers reveals that Jassy’s base income climbed by about 81% in 2022. Jassy’s base income in 20221 was $1,75,000, but in 2022, he got $317,500. Jassy also witnessed an increase in the “All Other Compensation” component. In 2021, he received $34,381; in 2022, he received $9,81,223.
Stock options are granted for a period of ten years.

The $212 million given to Jassy in 2021 will be vested over a ten-year period. According to Business Insider, the Amazon CEO vested over $32 million in 2022. According to the article, Jassy is set to vest close to $19 million this year.

According to the documents, former Amazon CEO and one of the world’s wealthiest men still receives a paycheck from the firm. Bezos, Amazon’s executive chairman, received $1.68 million in remuneration in 2022. Bezos’s first pay was $81,840. Bezos received $1.6 million under the “All Other Compensation” component. Surprisingly, Bezos has received the same amount of pay from the company he started for the last three years. In addition, Bezos has not received any stock options in the last three years.
