Cormac Whelan has been named Chief Executive Officer of Nitro Software, a global leader in SaaS PDF, eSign, and corporate document solutions. Whelan follows Sam Chandler, Nitro’s long-serving and successful CEO, who was recently acquired by private equity firm Potentia Capital.
Whelan is a worldwide entrepreneur and software industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience driving growth for start-ups, public and private equity-backed firms, and public and private equity-backed companies spanning Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Whelan’s proven track record of producing world-leading products and pioneering strategic technological innovation was aligned with Nitro’s ambition for global expansion after an exhaustive worldwide search.
Nitro has long been a market leader in PDF and eSign. “I am joining Nitro at an exciting time and look forward to guiding the company and its talented team through the next phase of growth,” stated Cormac Whelan, CEO of Nitro. “We intend to quicken our pace of product innovation, customer value, and global market position.”
Whelan was the Chairman of Qstream, an enterprise microlearning app, and the Chairman and Investor of Boxever, a customer data platform acquired by Sitecore, a global leader in digital experience management software, before joining Nitro. He has previously held C-level positions with firms such as Voysis, an AI start-up bought by Apple, Mercator, Datalex Plc, and Epicor Software Inc.
“It is our pleasure to welcome Cormac Whelan to the Nitro team,” stated Potentia Capital Co-Managing Director Tim Reed. “Cormac has built and aligned successful team cultures, delivered high-tech innovation, and scaled high-growth companies.” Nitro benefits from his leadership and expertise in further enhancing our worldwide market position and providing outstanding value to our consumers.”
