After 14 years, John Bean resigns as CEO of Calgary Sports and Entertainment
John Bean, the long-standing president and CEO of Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSEC), has stepped down from his role after an impressive 14-year tenure with the organization. His departure, effective as of Monday, was anticipated; Bean had informed the company of his plans last year and actively participated in the search for his successor. Although he is stepping down from his current role, Bean will continue to contribute to CSEC as a senior advisor for the design and construction of the new event center.
Stepping into Bean’s shoes is Robert Hayes, a seasoned executive with extensive experience in strategic client management, having previously served as managing director for RBC’s enterprise strategic client group. Hayes is no stranger to leadership within Calgary, currently holding positions as the audit committee chair for Calgary Economic Development and board member roles at the Calgary Film Centre.
Additionally, CSEC has announced the appointment of Lorenzo DeCicco as the new chief operating officer. DeCicco brings a wealth of experience from various leadership roles, including being a founding member and former president of Cavalry FC. Before joining CSEC, he served as the chief commercial officer at MET Brand Agency and METROPOLITAN Fine Printers in Vancouver. His extensive involvement in the community includes board memberships with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Calgary Foothills Soccer Club, and the Telus Community Board. DeCicco has also held the position of senior executive vice-president at Telus.
These leadership changes mark a significant new chapter for CSEC, as the organization looks forward to the future with fresh perspectives at the helm.
