Fabricio Bloisi is the new CEO, as announced by Prosus and Naspers

Prosus N.V. and its parent company Naspers have announced the unanimous decision by their Boards to appoint Fabricio Bloisi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of both entities, effective July 1, 2024. This strategic leadership change underscores the companies’ commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurial excellence at the highest level.

Presently holding the position of CEO at iFood, Fabricio Bloisi has a distinguished track record in the tech sector along with a plethora of expertise. Bloisi has grown iFood from a tiny 20-person startup to become Brazil’s top meal delivery provider after purchasing it in 2013. His inventive approach and entrepreneurial passion have not only made iFood a well-known brand in Latin America, but have also made it a leader in the worldwide meal delivery industry.

Koos Bekker, Chairman of Prosus and Naspers, emphasized that Bloisi’s appointment is a strategic initiative aimed at embedding innovation and entrepreneurial spirit at the core of the Group. Bekker highlighted that their success has been driven by supporting exceptional entrepreneurs who leverage technology to enhance daily life. He noted that Fabricio Bloisi’s proven entrepreneurial track record makes him the ideal candidate to place innovation and entrepreneurship at the forefront of the company’s mission.

After an excellent eight months as interim CEO, Ervin Tu will take on a new position as president and chief investment officer (CIO). Bekker acknowledged Tu’s efforts to concentrate and excite the squad and praised him for his leadership during a trying time. “Ervin has performed a fantastic job filling in for our CEO. He brought vitality and enthusiasm to bear, directed our teams through a difficult external situation, and Bekker said.

Fabricio Bloisi expressed his gratitude and pride at being chosen to head Prosus and Naspers at a pivotal moment in the history of the ICT sector. “To be given the chance to lead Prosus and Naspers during this exciting time of innovation and change within the technology space is an honor,” he said. “Building iFood into one of the biggest and most prosperous brands in Latin America has been a journey led by a driven team that acts quickly, empowers talented individuals, and strikes a balance between innovation and disciplined investment.”

Bloisi went on, saying, “Technological disruption has the potential to dramatically enhance the lives of billions of people at this amazing moment. An organization such as Prosus need to be central to recognising new technologies that affect the globe, especially in developing markets, like artificial intelligence (AI). Long into the future, our emphasis on innovation and discipline, along with our exceptional people, knowledge, and culture, will provide better experiences for our clients, opportunities for our staff, and improved financial outcomes for our shareholders.”

Tu expressed his hope for the future while complimenting Bloisi on her outstanding record and forward-thinking ideas. “Fabricio is a champion of culture, has a founder’s enthusiasm, an amazing operational track record, and the vision to imagine large and even greater. The IT business is going through a fascinating period of development right now. There are a lot of chances ahead, and working with Fabricio on this adventure excites me,” Tu said. On July 1, 2024, Bloisi is scheduled to become an executive director on the Naspers board. She will also, subject to shareholder approval, join the Prosus board in August 2024, after the AGM.

The Group continues to pursue its strategic goals, targeting consolidated ecommerce trading profit in the second half of FY24 and maintaining its open-ended share repurchase program. Detailed updates on these objectives will be provided in the year-end results scheduled for release on June 24, 2024.
