Following the death of CEO Lisa Yanez, Durham-based biopharma business Aerami Therapeutics has appointed an interim CEO and made other executive changes.

On Monday, Joshua Zeil was designated interim CEO and chief operating officer.

Other changes include the appointment of Gary Burgess as chief medical officer and Sarah Fritchley as senior vice president of clinical operations.

Yanez was killed in an automobile accident on May 2.

The adjustments are being implemented as the company prepares to expand the development of its initial product.
