Fast-growing Inc. 5000 company names new CEO – The Business Journals

[ad_1]

Bend-based Puffin Drinkwear has named Tory Upham as its  new chief executive officer. This month, Upham succeeded interim head Scott Allan, who has a wealth of expertise in the outdoor and action sports sectors. His appointment is in line with Puffin Drinkwear’s remarkable accomplishment of placing No. 131 on the 2023 Inc. 5000 list, which highlights the business’ explosive expansion.

Prior to joining Puffin Drinkwear, Upham was a leader at two bike and motorcycle equipment firms, CushCore and Kreft Moto. His varied career has included positions with Exxel Outdoors and Dakine Equipment, giving him invaluable experience for his current position.

Upham’s choice to move to Bend from Southern California demonstrates his commitment to the business and the area’s booming outdoor sector. His hiring comes after a fruitful fundraising round that was funded by Village Family Capital and Colfam Management, two Portland-based investors.

Puffin Drinkwear is well-known for its distinctive range of drink coozies, which are sold in more than 4,500 retailers in the United States and Canada and resemble little coats and flannels. According to Upham, these quirky items complement the brand’s emphasis on outdoor enjoyment and are ideal additions for outdoor activities.

Upham finds great resonance in the company’s roots, which stem from founder Tyrone Hazen’s camping excursions. He is keen to promote the culture of outdoor enjoyment and friendship, which he feels Puffin exemplifies.

Puffin is a company that was founded in 2018, but in the last three years, it has grown at an astounding rate—3,752%. Puffin has become the industry leader with a wide variety of designs and a committed crew.

Upham’s choice to work for Puffin was impacted by the company’s distinctive style, vibrant workforce, and creative thinking. Tyrone Hazen, the founder, was thrilled with Upham’s selection, praising both his commercial sense and leadership abilities.

Upham was unintentionally introduced to Puffin during a function held at the Bend, Oregon, headquarters of the firm. His subsequent relationship with Scott Allan, the acting CEO, resulted in conversations of Upham becoming the CEO.

Upham is spearheading a new campaign for Puffin dubbed RAD (Really Awesome Drinkwear), which features ’80s-inspired designs that encapsulate nostalgia and outdoor adventure as the company gets ready for the hectic holiday season.
