Get to know Supriya Paul, the woman responsible for Josh Talks’ success story

In the midst of the pandemic, there was a surge in the digitization of services, leading to a significant increase in online content consumption. Supriya Paul, CEO and co-founder of Josh Talks, recognized this trend and embraced a digital-first approach to propel her online content business forward.

What many may not know is that Josh Talks initially began as an offline platform, focusing on showcasing stories of relatable role models from the grassroots of India through on-ground events. However, as the landscape evolved, Paul and her team pivoted towards prioritizing online platforms.

Supriya Paul’s journey to entrepreneurship began during her final year of college at Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University, where she met her co-founder, Shobhit Banga. Their shared belief in the need to revolutionize traditional education systems to empower young people fueled the inception of Josh Talks in 2015.

“We aimed to build a platform that could offer young individuals, especially those in Tier II cities and beyond, the resources and insights needed to navigate their career paths with confidence,” Paul expressed passionately.

Since then, Josh Talks has evolved into an expansive ecosystem of upskilling, counseling, and learning, presenting success and relatable stories through various social media platforms such as YouTube and Facebook. The platform’s focus on reaching the youth in Tier-2 and tier-3 cities led to the launch of a Hindi YouTube channel in 2017.

Through strategic partnerships with organizations like Omidyar Network India, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Meta, among others, Josh Talks collaborates on programs aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, empowering the Next Half Billion.

With 19 active channels offering content in 10 languages and diverse categories such as Josh Talks Aasha and Josh Talks Money, Supriya Paul’s vision has propelled Josh Talks to new heights. The content now garners over 180 million views monthly, with more than 50 million unique viewers, predominantly from the 18-34 age group, who prefer consuming content in their native languages.
