We all like to take a sticky beak into how the elite live, but whose homes do we want to see the most?

A new study reveals the most Googled celebrity homes over the past year — with Elon Musk topping the list, followed by Kim Kardashian and Canadian rapper Drake.

The property experts from GetAgent analysed search volumes from Google to discover the most-searched celebrity homes in the world, along with the stars whose homes have seen the biggest increases and decreases in interest since the same period last year.

In May 2020, Elon Musk made waves when he stated he’d be selling off his entire property portfolio, and in the years since he’s done exactly that.

Once upon a time he owned four stunning mansions in Los Angeles, including Gene Wilder’s former home — along with other luxurious properties like a 100-year-old mansion in San Francisco.

However, it was one of the world’s most famous families, the Kardashians, that dominated the rankings.

The five sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and mum Kris all had over 100,000 searches for their respective residences, meaning the entire family ranked in the top 20 most searched celebrity homes.

Kim Kardashian was particularly active wheeling and dealing big time property last year, when she purchased a $104m (US$70m) four-bedroom, six-bathroom property in Malibu that once belonged to Cindy Crawford.

Rapper Drake’s extravagant manor in Toronto has been showcased online many times, but the most recent headlines surrounding the award-winning artist involve his purchases and sales in the LA area.

In 2022 Aubrey Graham (aka Drake) sold off all three houses that made up his sprawling compound in LA’s Hidden Hills, making a combined US$22.3m (A$32.9m) in the process.

It came after he settled on Robbie Williams’ humungous mega-mansion for $75m (A$104m), which he purchased in April.

Tech billionaire Bill Gates also featured in the top five, with almost 600,000 searches (594,000) this year.

“Working with industry leading designers and architects means that lots of celebrity homes are incredibly beautiful, and with so many celebrities sharing glimpses of their homes on social media, it’s no surprise that people are interested in seeing how their favourite stars have decorated their properties.”

Johnny Depp, whose public trial this year likely contributed to the intrigue surrounding his 41-acre estate; Will Smith, whose extensively documented home cost an eye-watering $42m; and footballer Messi, who just dropped $3m to build a new mansion in Argentina, all rounded out the top 10.

Sportspeople including Tom Brady, Cristiano Ronaldo and Tiger Woods were all featured in the top 20.

In comparing this year’s search volumes for almost 500 celebrity homes with last year’s searches, the research revealed that influencer and entrepreneur Molly Mae Hague whose home spiked most in search interest – with searches increasing by a whopping 2,471 per cent.

The former Love Island UK star purchased a £4m home including six bedrooms and more than 460 sqm of land back in April 2022, and with the star sharing much of her life on her YouTube channel and Instagram, fans are easily able to get a glimpse of her plush home from a quick search.
